Located in the historic and picturesque neighbourhood of Hess Village in Hamilton, Downtown Sleep Dentistry and Oral Surgery has been providing patients with quality dental sedation care since 1990. Our dental anaesthesia providers have completed multi-year anaesthesia residencies at the University of Toronto and are some of the few dentists in Ontario licensed to provide all levels of sedation including deep sedation and general anaesthesia. Children that attend our office may often have multiple teeth that need treatment and choose to be sedated for a variety of reasons. Some may not have complex dental needs but require sedation or anaesthesia because of medical or behavioural reasons. Many children require this service as they have been uncooperative at their pre-existing dental office despite behavioural control techniques, have significant anxiety associated with dental care, and/or have more extensive dental disease. We always have a consultation appointment with children to determine their eligibility for safe anaesthesia treatment and to determine their dental needs to ensure they are receiving the proper treatment. Once we assess their oral health we can begin looking at management options, which most often is deep sedation. However, since every child is unique and requires different levels of care, we will determine the best plan for your child during the consultation.Consultations are key for children sedation dentistry
The consultation also allows us to explain the entire treatment plan to parents. We want to make sure you are completely aware of and onboard with your child’s dental plan. We will also take the time to review diet and oral hygiene strategies to prevent future cavities.Safety is our main goal

Our highly skilled team of dental and nursing professionals have chosen this vocation to help provide quality dental care to those who might otherwise avoid going to the dentist because they are overcome by dental phobia. There are only about 50 dentist anaesthesiologists in Canada and we have four of them at this office.
Affordability
Because we are the anaesthesiologists as well as the dentist, our fees are less than other offices that need to bring in specialists from time-to-time. We also believe that children of all ages should be able to receive proper dental care, which is why accept Healthy Smiles Ontario.
